5 Things to Do This Memorial Day Weekend

Celebrate at the Station – Sunday, May 27

Enjoy a rousing patriotic concert put on by the Kansas City Symphony at Union Station. Celebration at the Station is the largest free Memorial Day weekend festival in the Midwest that culminates in one of the best firework displays in the country. Oh, and did I mention live cannons? That’s right, the symphony’s grand finale is Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever” with cannon fire.  Blankets and lawn chairs welcome. The event site opens at 3 p.m. The concert begins at 8 p.m. kcsymphony.org. If you can’t make it to Union Station you can see a live telecast of the event on KCPT-TV starting at 8 p.m.  kcpt.org.
