Inside My Closet

What do you do during the day?
If I am not chasing after my kiddos (5 and 1), I am either managing my styling business, trying to meet a writing deadline or doing research for my blog,

I sort of love the unpredictability of my job; one day I might be organizing someone’s closet and the next day I might be styling a fashion segment on the local news. I feel like I get the best of both worlds being a stay-at-home/work-from-home mom.

Who are your fashion icons?
I relate to Gwyneth Paltrow and her sophisticated, easygoing style. But I am most inspired by fashion blogger Blair Eadie (, who puts together some of the most unique, yet wearable looks, as well as the Olsen twins for their quirky and unique style.

What are you wearing?
I found this dress by Felicity & Coco on while shopping for a client (one of the perks of my job). I saw the color and knew it had to be mine. Accessories are one of my favorite things about getting dressed each day. I am wearing my favorite gold necklaces by Golden Thread ( and turquoise earrings by Kendra Scott ( I am a huge fan of bracelets. The more the better! I wear everything from H&M to David Yurman (Tivol), vintage and Alex + Ani (Standard Style).

Why do you love this outfit?
I always feel more comfortable in a dress. There is something about it that is so feminine and it truly makes you feel like a million bucks. This is one of my favorite colors, and I was excited to find it in such a comfortable and pretty silhouette. The best part is the price — it was only $78! I am the queen of bargain hunting, so this dress was a win-win for me.

What are some of your favorite summer go-to pieces?
Dressing for summer is the best! I live in sundresses and skirts, mainly just to stay cool. I have found some darling sundresses this year at Old Navy. Again, great bargains to be had there. I have four pairs of white jeans, which I pair with all the fun-colored and printed tops of the season. I always go to J. Crew Factory for basic tees and tanks in an array of colors and stripes — they look great with skirts, shorts or denim.

What tips can you offer others when it comes to organizing a fabulous closet?
Since closet organizing is my job, I am very particular. I am a strong believer in getting rid of what you don’t wear; de-cluttering is half the battle! I always suggest investing in velvet hangers. They will lengthen the life of your clothing and maximize space as well. I also like finding unique ways to store and display jewelry and accessories. I have pieces from estate sales mixed in with items from Home Goods. You don’t have to spend a lot to make your closet look amazing.

Why do you love living in Johnson County?
I live in old Leawood and I adore our neighborhood. There is nothing cookie-cutter about it — right down to the residents. We have such an eclectic mix of people around us and I love that.
