Netflix Series Moves Forward, Putting Low-Key Lake of the Ozarks Resort in the Spotlight

Alhonna Resort and Marina, a 60-unit waterfront resort at the Lake of the Ozarks, isn’t the fanciest or most expensive resort on the lake, but soon it will be the most famous.

Alhonna helped inspire a new show coming to Netflix from Golden Globe-winning movie star Jason Bateman. The show is rumored to be about the dark and dangerous world of drugs and money laundering.

Tim Jacobsen, executive director of the Lake of the Ozarks Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, has been sworn to secrecy about details of the 10-episode series, but he did admit to taking Bateman and others out on the lake during a scouting trip last spring.

The Hollywood Reporter says Bateman will star in the series as a family man who moves from the city to the Lake of the Ozarks to begin repaying a debt to a ruthless drug lord.

The show has been speculated to begin airing in late 2017.
