Robin Krause is a holistic living and nutrition guru, and she’s got the certifications to prove it. She could probably have made a fine living for herself building a private client base for her health coaching services alone, but we’re certainly glad she opted to extend her expertise to the broader population with her Unbakery and Juicery.

The menu at this bright Brookside shop is full of breakfast items and lunch entrees that are gluten free, dairy free and allergen-sensitive. Here, you’ll find cold-press juices, vibrant salads, protein balls, nutritious wraps and guilt-free pastries. Unlike many health food-centric establishments, Krause refrains from listing out calories for her recipes: Her philosophy isn’t about restricting your choices based on numbers, but choosing good food that nourishes your soul. Who can argue with that?

Best Bet: We could have the pad Thai salad with seared tuna and a tamari-sesame dressing every day if we could.

Omaha-based grab-and-go food chain Eat-Fit-Go wants to make nutrition as accessible as fast food. At locations in Shawnee, Olathe, Westwood, Prairie Village and Overland Park, gleaming refrigerators offer up dozens of breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees – everything from steak enchiladas to salmon alfredo – plus snacks and desserts and even kids’ items.

Best bet: The chicken cauliflower rice bowl tastes way better than it sounds, we promise. Grab this easy entrée for lunch or dinner and you might be surprised at how good a low-carb meal can be.

Cafe Gratitude

All the dishes at Café Gratitude are named with an affirmation: “I Am Healthy” for the kale, celery, cucumber and lemon juice; “I Am Awesome” for the gluten-free eggplant parmesan sandwich; “I Am Fabulous” for the raw lasagna with cashew ricotta cheese. If you can get past the corny way you have to order any of these items, you’ll be rewarded with a full, happy belly.

Best bet: If you're in a rush, get the "I Am Incredible" to go – a chocolate banana smoothie with raw cacao, maca, almond butter, dates, coconut milk and vanilla bean.

Want to experiment with veganism? How about a paleo diet? Maybe you’re just looking to try a gluten-free approach? Located in Mission Farms, Enjoy Pure Food + Drink will not blink an eye at your bizarre modifications. Chances are, though, that this health-focused café already has a menu item designed to meet your specific needs.

Best bet: The gluten-free, vegan “Take on the World” bowl – with quinoa, avocado, kale, broccoli, shredded beets, almonds, hemp seeds and a ginger-miso dressing – will get you through any midday slump.

Vitality Bowls

Vitality Bowls

Vitality Bowls began as a superfood café in California in 2014, and today there are dozens of franchises throughout the country. The popularity of this concept is a no-brainer: Nutrient-packed superfoods and superfruits are blended to a creamy perfection, then garnished with a bounty of healthful toppings. You won’t find ice, frozen yogurt, added sugar, artificial preservatives or trans fats anywhere in these smoothie and bowl recipes.

Best bet: The dragon bowl is a colorful, invigorating blend of pitaya, mango juice, coconut milk, bananas, pineapple and raspberries with an immunity boost – and it gets topped with a pretty assortment of bee pollen, goji berries and kiwi.
