After sweeping the nation and winning countless awards, critically acclaimed historical hip-hop musical Hamilton: An American Musical is coming to Kansas City.

The popular sung-through musical will take the stage during the 2018-19 season of Theater League’s Kansas City Broadway Series.

Hamilton, with music, lyrics and book by actor, playwright and composer Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights, Moana and Star Wars: The Force Awakens), follows the life of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and other founding fathers and was inspired by Ron Chernow’s 2004 biography, Alexander Hamilton.

The musical has received a slew of awards, among them 11 Tony Awards, one of which for Best Musical; a 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album and 2016 Pulitzer Prize for drama.

Season members from the 2017-18 season will have first access to tickets upon renewing their membership for the 2018-19 season.

Other shows in the 2018-19 season include The Lion King, The Color Purple and Finding Neverland.
