Part of the Neighborhood

South Leawood is abuzz with talk of a new eatery that’s popped up just north of Oklahoma Joe’s at 117th and Roe in Camelot Court.

With Corner Bakery Cafe’s franchise headquarters planning a rapid rollout across the nation targeting upscale neighborhoods, one of the newest locations in Johnson County is easily a natural fit for the fast-casual dining destination owned by restaurant group Café Foods, Inc.

Plans call for opening a total of 11 cafes in the greater Kansas City area over the next six years. The next area Corner Bakery Café is slated to open in Corbin Park (135th & Metcalf) in early spring.

The restaurant has a good breakfast crowd and opens extra early at 6:30 a.m. daily for coffee, with the full breakfast menu available by 7. The most popular dish is the Anaheim Scrambler: scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, green onions and cheese, topped with a fresh avocado wedge.

Having just opened on Nov. 11, the staff is still in training mode. While kinks are still being worked out, expect service to steadily ramp up over the next few months. Keep in mind: Good things come to those who wait!

After ordering at the counter, the made-to-order food is delivered to your table. From paninis and mixed greens to mac & cheese and turkey on pretzel bread, there is something scrumptious for any appetite!

Depending on the time of day, be advised that to-go parking can be hard to find. If you need a speedy grab-and-go meal, this may not be the ideal choice.

Though the menu is full of great dining choices from breakfast items to dinner entrées, don’t leave without sampling one of the mini chocolate Bundt cakes — a truly decadent indulgence!
