5. Search for Hidden Treasure

   You’ll want to wear comfortable shoes when you spend an afternoon at the shops in the historic West Bottoms. There you’ll find some of the finest antiques and most inspiring vintage gems in the country. The popular shopping district has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century. 6. Take a Scenic Bike Ride

  Load the bikes, pack the water bottles and plan an afternoon off the beaten path when you head to the towering bluffs of Cliff Drive in Northeast Kansas City — a historic part of the Missouri State Scenic Byway Tour. Expect an easy 4-mile ride that meanders through a forest filled with resident wildlife. 7. Support Your Local Growers

    Visiting City Market is always a Saturday treat because you can take your time getting to know the local growers.  Many farmers proudly man their own booths bursting with the fruits of their labor. Growers are usually more than willing to share their stories with you. There are approximately 140 vendors on any given Saturday, making it the largest Farmers Market in the region.  Phone your favorite beer snob and schedule a Saturday of beer tasting at its finest. 9. Take a Guided Tour on Horseback

   On any given Saturday you can connect with your inner cowboy (or girl) by saddling up for a guided horseback riding tour on the dusty trails just outside the city. Located in the quiet town of Cleveland, Missouri, is the Lone Wolf Arena, a sanctuary for equestrians and horse enthusiasts. 10. Be a Pinup Girl for the Day

   Schedule your Saturday afternoon session at Westport’s Vixen Pinup Photography, a collaboration of photographer Nikki Moreno-Whipple and makeup artist Candy Cunningham. Together they make your perfect personal glam squad. The vixens specialize in making women look and feel their most beautiful. For nearly 10 years, they have costumed, coifed and transformed hundreds of Kansas Citians for stunning photo shoots pinup-style.

11. HamBINGO

Join Kansas City’s best drag queens for a hilarious Saturday afternoon playing legendary Bingo. Be warned, it’s not for those with delicate sensitivities. The bingo party, hosted by Hamburger Mary’s on Broadway, is free, but you’ll be asked to make a donation to a pre-selected charity. 12. Set Sail on the Lake

   If you’ve ever envisioned setting sail on the high seas but find yourself hopelessly landlocked,  the Perry Yacht Club is the perfect place for you. There you will find everything you need to satisfy your yearning for aquatic adventures by helping you set sail on the expansive Perry Lake in Meriden, Kansas.
