WaterFire | Oct. 12
WaterFire Kansas City has become one of the most anticipated events in the area. Started in 2007 near the Country Club Plaza between Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, the event has seen as many as 30,000 attendees.
As the sun sets, music will rise along the banks of Brush Creek. Boats carrying bearers of lit torches will quietly move along the creek to light the wood in the braziers floating on the water.
In the four hours that follow, Kansas City performers including singers, musicians and dancers will entertain the crowds in celebration of the community.

The Eagles | Oct. 23
The Eagles, featuring Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, will take the stage at the Sprint Center to perform classics spanning their celebrated career including “Hotel California,” “New Kid In Town,” “Take It To The Limit,” “One Of These Nights,” “Lyin’ Eyes,” “Best Of My Love” and “Take It Easy.” Hits from band members’ solo catalogs will also be featured during the evening.
The Eagles have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, earning five #1 U.S. singles and six Grammy Awards. Their album “Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975” is one of the best-selling albums of all time.
The Eagles were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

American Royal Barbecue | Oct. 3-6
The American Royal Barbecue is the opening event of the historic American Royal and is the season finale for the competitive barbecue circuit.
Spanning more than 20 acres in Kansas City’s Stockyards District, and with over 500 teams competing in four meat categories, the four-day festival is touted to be the largest barbecue contest in the world and has come to be known as the “World Series of Barbecue.”
There are a variety of family-friendly events all weekend long, including cooking demonstrations and live music on the concert stage.

Speaking of Women’s Health | Oct. 4
435 Magazine is a proud sponsor of the most important women’s health event of the year.
Speaking of Women’s Health is an interactive health education experience that pampers attendees while teaching them important health information. The all-day event features health screenings and women’s health education sessions with presentations from leading local and national health experts.
Set in a spa-like atmosphere at the Overland Park Convention Center, attendees receive gift bags filled with women’s health education materials and a variety of samples. A wide range of women’s health topics will be covered including holistic health, hormone therapy, memory, menopause and more.

Holiday Mart | Oct. 17-20
Holiday Mart is the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri’s (JLKCMO) largest fundraiser. The upscale shopping extravaganza has been a fall tradition for 26 years. With more than 200 specialty retailers and more than 20,000 shoppers, the event will again take place at Bartle Hall.
Since it began in 1987, Holiday Mart has helped raise more than $8 million for Kansas City community projects and the Junior League’s mission of promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving our community.
