Party With A Purpose

Fall is when the galas and fundraisers get started in earnest. If you love combining a good time with raising money, there’s a bountiful selection of events to choose from.

Treads & Threads

It all feels so very James Bond when you’re dressed for a black tie event on a race track. But this Speed Racer glamour is all part of the appeal of Treads & Threads, a fundraiser for the University of Kansas Health Systems. On September 7, get your glam on at the Kansas Speedway and enjoy music, dancing, feasting and fireworks. http://www.treadsandthreads.org/

Symphony Ball – To Paris With Love

This glitzy affair on September 8 is one of the best galas of the year. With ladies dressed in show-stopping ball gowns, silent auction items that are swoon worthy and an ambiance that will leave you feeling like you’re anywhere but at the Westin, this event is divine. Add in a concert by the Kansas City Symphony and it gets a standing ovation. kcsymphony.org

Guests will find their way through a corn maze while stopping at six different checkpoints to imbibe in a variety of wines and beers. libertycornmaze.wixsite.com

Wine and Roses

A lot of the gorgeous rose gardens you see in Kansas City parks are because of the efforts of the Rose Society. To raise money to continue the upkeep of the lush gardens the society is throwing a Wine and Roses party at the Laura Conyers Rose Garden on September 20. Besides exquisite roses, there will be hors d’oeuvres, specialty cocktails and wine along with dancing. kansascityrosesociety.org

It’s beer, wine, cocktails and seasonal tastings from some of Kansas City’s favorite restaurants. You’ll also get a backstage tour of Starlight, and we’re told there will be amazing raffle prizes. kcstarlight.com
