Here are Kansas City’s best 4th of July fireworks shows

Celebrate the red, white and blue at one of these Independence Day festivals that host fireworks displays. See the virtual map below for a more comprehensive list of 4th of July festivals across the region.

KC RiverFest

Commemorate America’s birthday along Berkley Riverfront at KC RiverFest. Word on the street is that RiverFest has the best Fourth of July fireworks in the metro (maybe even the Midwest), so bring lawn chairs, blankets and plenty of bug spray. Berkley Riverfront, Grand Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. 3-10 pm. $5 admission.

Weston’s July 4th Hometown Celebration

Weston is worth the drive to see how serious they take their holiday. The morning parade is followed by activities like watermelon eating contests, sponge tosses and hole-in-the bucket relays. Enjoy their stunning fireworks show, set off from Weston Masonic Lodge, following the town’s military appreciation ceremony. Main Street, Weston, Mo. 9 am-10 pm. Free admission.

Leawood 4th of July Spectacular

This event has something for everyone: face painting and inflatables for the kids and live music for parents. Enjoy an impressive firework display at the end of the day. Leawood City Park, 10601 Lee Blvd. 6-9:30 pm. Free general admission, $5 all-access activity bands.

Worlds of Fun

Ride all the rides and water slides, enjoy some some Cotton Blossom BBQ and finish the day off with an incredible fireworks display. Military members get free admission to the park all day. 4545 Worlds of Fun Ave., Kansas City, Mo. 10 am-10 pm. $41 admission.

Overland Park Star Spangled Spectacular

Bring a lawn chair to Corporate Woods in Johnson County and enjoy an illuminated sky. The event even has a free pop-up yoga class at 10 am. This year, there will be musical performances from State Line Drive and Noe Palma. Corporate Woods Founders’ Park, 9711 W. 109th St., Overland Park, Kan. 5-10 pm. Free.
